Customer Reviews for the EXP-14.

From: Michael Dumond WA1ZPD
I inherited this Antenna from my uncle, W1TCF, along with the 40m attachments and an HDX 555 tower. The highest SWR I've seen on any of the four bands is 1.3. Extremely pleased. Just make sure where North is before you put it up.

I recentlypurchased a EXP-14 (without the 40 meter add on).
Although the construction was a bit complex the performance was well worth the effort... I am using this antenna with a Ham-IV rotor at 45 feet. I have used this antenna with a Yaesu FT-990 and an Icom-756 and found out that the SWR was 1.2 to 1, I use it with the auto tuner switched off on both rigs. What I really find amazing is how broad banded this antenna is .... I would certainly recommend this antenna to anyone.
( I took the time when constructing this antenna to make sure that all measurements were accurate.)

I bought mine (including the forty/thirty meter add on)a little less than a year ago and I'm well pleased with it. I have it mounted on a GlenMartin 9 ft. rooftop tower at about 44 ft. (13.2 m) with a Ham IV rotor. It's been the most effective antenna I've ever used.

I found it well made with no missing parts and the instructions were clear and accurate. I had no trouble identifying the parts or figuring out how they went together. The only criticism I would make is a couple of the swaged joints were a bit snug and a couple more were sloppy enough that I needed to widen the end slots a bit to get them to clamp firmly. It's been up through a full northwest winter now ( a seventy mph blow and a couple of 40 mph ones ) with no damage so all looks good.

I have used the Explorer 14 with the 40 meter add on 20+ years. The antenna is broad banded no tuner required, excellent front to back rejection. It recently came down in a storm I will be replacing it during the summer. I will highly recommend this antenna.
